\nDr\u00e4ger uses two hydrophobic membranes in the WaterLock\u00ae 2 instead of one. This double-membrane protection system protects the sample and purge gas from condensation. Even if the sampling line falls into the secretion aspiration container, for example when changing patients, water will not enter the gas measurement system. For additional safety, two self-sealing filters are used: they turn blue when clogged.<\/span>

\nThe main components of WaterLock\u00ae 2 are two filters made of hydrophobic microporous Teflon membranes. This membrane with a pore size of only 0.2 \u03bcm is impermeable to water vapor, bacteria and microbes. However, the gas to be analyzed passes through the membrane with only a small pressure loss. The gas to be analyzed is sucked in by the pump.<\/span>
\nThe first filter removes water from the gas before it reaches the IR sensor. The second gas flow is sucked in through a water tank, and the second filter removes water from the first filter. This protects the moisture collector from clogging under poor operating conditions. The filter housing has a complex geometry that ensures a fast response and extremely effective drainage. \nAll you need to do to empty the WaterLock\u00ae 2 is simply remove it from the holder, insert a syringe into the connector and remove the water. The double membrane and specially designed membrane material protect the gas measurement system from any bacteria and microbes.<\/span>
